Nutrition

 

There is so much contradictory information publicly available making it difficult to determine what nutritional changes would really benefit your health.

 

In a sector dominated by fads and quick fixes, it can be tempting to follow the latest “diet plan” or food craze.  However these quick fixes rarely provide a long-term solution. Our recommendations are based on non-diet intuitive eating and a gentle approach to nutrition to ensure permanent change that feels natural and easy to implement.

Mindfulness

 

We often eat in a rush, at our desks, on the train or in front of the television, a society in a constant state of stress and distraction. Because of this we don’t often notice how much we are eating.

 

In a society that has too much to do, deadlines to meet, and no time to sit and enjoy food – we can see why so many people struggle with disordered eating. Here at Mindfoodness we use techniques derived from meditation and mindfulness to help you become more aware of what and how much you are eating. Learn to respond to your body’s natural cues and needs to resolve your issues with disordered eating.

Neuro Linguistic Programming

 

NLP is a tool which enables individuals to alter subconscious behaviors.

 

Anyone that drives a car or has learnt to dance will know they don’t perform these actions through conscious thinking – these activities are often performed in auto-pilot mode once an individual has had ongoing practice and experience. Eating habits are a repetitive behavior we also perform while on auto-pilot. Reaching for biscuits when you are stressed or ice-cream when you are sad is just an automatic response. NLP can be used to change these subconscious drives to help you regain control over your decisions around food.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

 

CBT is an exploratory technique used in 1:1 therapy which enables individuals to investigate and identify the driving force behind their choices.

 

 At Mindfoodness we combine CBT with Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. This integrative approach helps us identify why you make certain food choices, uncover the exact triggers to your disordered eating, and learn how to alter your response to those triggers.

 

CBT, ACT and Mindfulness are also used to help reduce stress, anxiety and depression. These conditions can often be an underlying factor contributing to your current eating habits.
