Let me guess…
You’ve been so busy being the perfect woman, wife, mother, daughter, friend, colleague, career woman that you’ve lost connection with who you are. Or maybe you never knew to begin with.
What I believe
As women we are nurturing, loving and caring. We prioritize everyone else – before ourselves. We also want to be healthy, beautiful, confident, fit and strong. We want to be loved and respected just the way we are. We want to be ourselves!
But then there are the expectations and pressures that tell us how we should be – a good mother, the perfect wife, a successful career woman and the well-behaved daughter. The diet industry tells us how we are supposed to look, what we should be eating and how much we need to exercise to be that PERFECT human being. And somewhere along the way in trying to conform to all those expectations we lose ourselves.
To achieve we have been starving ourselves, not just with crazy diets, but with withholding goodness from ourselves in other parts of our lives. We think that once we have that “perfect” body, we will feel better about ourselves, have confidence and lots of energy, wear beautiful clothes, get promoted, find love and finally be happy. We end up stuck in a cycle of diets, self-loathing, feeling frustrated, no energy, lost all confidence, and end up hating ourselves.
Trying to have it all, be it all, juggle it all can leave you feeling overwhelmed, stressed, confused, worthless and powerless.
